Sky fragments, a collaboration with Juan Carlos Guerrerosantos

Have you ever stopped to look at the sky? This enormous, almost infinite canvas that always accompanies us is one of the main inspirations for the conceptual artist from Guadalajara Juan Carlos Guerrerosantos, with whom we decided to collaborate to create a mini jewelry collection that blurs the limits of the object and art. On January 31, Sky fragments was officially launched, the name given to these 10 pieces that were conceptualized by the artist and our team over a year. In this article, we tell you about the magic behind the collection and the process to reach the final result.

“As the first gesture and what led to the collection was the attempt to match the colorimetry to the atmosphere, in this way when toning and painting an object it would blend in with the celestial vault and would be lost in the context that most encompasses our visual field. : the sky.”, comments Guerrerosantos regarding the beginning of the conceptualization of this collection. From this idea of ​​creating a fragment of sky, the observation of meteorological phenomena is derived and how these allow us to observe the present and play with the imagination.

Knowing the work and context of the artist was essential to achieve the ideas that arose for the pieces, respecting his artistic voice and at the same time combining it with the values ​​and mission of Juliet Aurel was an axis that was kept in mind at all times so that the collection work cohesively and coherently. Following this idea, it was decided to use a different material than the brand's signature, for this collection the pieces were made in .925 sterling silver, this to represent, with the color and versatility of the material, the plasticity of clouds and reflections. from the sky.

When we talk about .925 sterling silver we mean that the jewelry has 92.5% silver and the rest other metals that are necessary to achieve a hard and resistant piece. In addition, the pieces have a rhodium plating, which protects them from oxidation, so that each piece has the best quality. On the other hand, there are pieces worked with colored enamelling, which is done in detail by hand by goldsmith artisans.

Sky fragments has 10 pieces, all made of .925 silver, including necklaces and rings, each of the pieces has a story behind it that is closely linked to the artist's work, the Sunshine script necklace for example, is a memory of the dynamism of the sky at sunrise, its phrase is inspired by the song “I forget where we were” by Ben Howard. Each piece is a reminder that the imagination has no limits, we can see whatever we want, with a fragment of sky on our neck or clouds between our fingers.
